Where We Go
One of the things that makes the Goats experience so special is the variety of places we explore together throughout Southern California and beyond. No two campouts are exactly alike, and every season brings new adventures and lasting memories. Campouts from recent seasons have included:
Beach & Island Camping – Del Mar Beach at Camp Pendleton & Catalina Island (Two Harbors)
Mountain & Backcountry Retreats – Kern River (Sequoia National Forest), Hurkey Creek, Los Coyotes, Empire and Jewel Ranch (Boulevard)
Desert Adventures – Borrego Springs and Joshua Tree
YMCA Campgrounds – Indian Hills (Jamul) and Camp Marston (Julian)
Family Camp Weekends – Vail Lake KOA (Temecula) and San Diego KOA (Chula Vista)
From sleeping under the stars in the desert to exploring mountain trails, relaxing on the beach, rafting rivers, and kayaking at Catalina Island, Goat families experience a wide range of adventures while building friendships and creating memories that last a lifetime.
While destinations may vary from year to year, the spirit of adventure remains the same.
What We Do
Adventure, Friendship & Plenty of Campfires
There’s never a dull moment with the Goats! Throughout the year, Goat families take part in more than a dozen adventures and activities across Southern California. From beach campouts and desert adventures to mountain getaways, family camp, the Encinitas Christmas Parade and YMCA events, there are plenty of opportunities to get outside, try something new, and make memories with your daughter.
But it’s about more than just the adventures.
Along the way, Goat families gather around campfires, celebrate traditions and ceremonies, give back through service projects, and work together on fundraising efforts that support our community and programs like YMCA Dreamcatcher. These shared experiences give daughters opportunities to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and cultivate lifelong friendships.
And while we love a good adventure, the real magic happens in the time dads and daughters spend together.
Away from busy schedules, screens, and the distractions of everyday life, there’s time to talk, laugh, explore, and simply enjoy being together. Whether you're sitting around a campfire, lending a hand in the community, or tackling a new adventure side-by-side, the Goats create the kind of experiences that become favorite family stories—and memories that last a lifetime.

Of course, no Goat adventure is complete without food. We take camp cuisine seriously.
From sunrise breakfasts and hearty camp meals to ice-cream parties, late-night campfire snacks, and the occasional exotic meat cooked over an open flame, Bear Nation has earned a well-deserved reputation for keeping dads and daughters very, very well fed.
Because great adventures are even better when there's good food waiting at the end.
